At Florabella we want your wedding day to be as beautiful as you have always dreamed it would be. During our consultation and throughout the planning process, we will work with you to discover your sense of style and color, then design and create your wedding flowers as a reflection of your personality. We pride ourselves on our ability to intuitively determine what you want, even if you don’t know!

Who is Florbella Designs?

Florabella Designs was started by the husband and wife team of Sarah and Gene Kranz in 2001. Sarah has had a lifelong love affair with flowers, even as a child. Her mother used to call her “Eliza Doolittle” as she walked outside with a tray and clippers to pick roses from the garden. While Sarah was at UC Santa Barbara (where she and Gene met) with the intention of becoming a film director, she worked for a local florist. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles and worked for Imagine Entertainment as a development assistant, working on projects such as “A Beautiful Mind” and “The Grinch.” Although Sarah enjoyed much of her time in Hollywood, as she sat at her desk for long hours, all she could dream of was working with flowers rather than scripts! In 2000, Sarah quit her job and enrolled in floral design classes in Southern California, deciding to finally pursue the dream of creating beautiful floral works of art as a career.

Sarah’s distinctive flair for using an abundance of flowers, color and unusual elements like fruit, vegetables, sparkling crystals and gorgeous ribbon in her designs are what make her style unique. Sarah’s designs have a lush, garden style feel and she likes to allow the flowers to choose their own location in each bouquet. As she says, “Flowers interact with each other. I listen to the flowers and let them guide me.”

A former teacher, Gene is now a fulltime graduate student in the PhD program in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. In addition to his studies, he assists Sarah with creating the flowers and instructing the team with Sarah’s directions. Gene has an excellent eye for design and a gift for organization, and as the Operations Manager for Florabella, he employs both of these skills.

Together, Sarah and Gene make a team of committed floral designers who are eager to work with you to create the perfect flowers for your wedding day. We truly believe that a wedding is an expression of the couple’s love for each other and it’s our job to reveal through flowers the beauty of your relationship.

Why do we do weddings?

A couple's wedding day is one of the very most significant events in their lives together. We truly enjoy being a part of that joyful and meaningful celebration and helping each couple achieve their vision. We were married in October 2001, and understand all the emotions surrounding the planning of a wedding, as well as the frustrations brides often encounter in dealing with vendors. We are dedicated to making the planning of your wedding flowers as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, whether that means you will be involved in every decision, or would prefer to leave the specifics up to us.

A wedding should be beautiful, joyful and FUN! We promise to make your flowers as gorgeous as you will be as a bride, and to provide you with one more reason to have fun on your wedding day.
